Description

Are you a Year 12 girl currently studying A-level maths and wondering if a degree in maths or a related subject is for you? This Y12 Girls in Mathematics event will help support you to develop your advanced problem solving skills and mathematical understanding, and explore some of the exciting, challenging and rewarding mathematics you could meet if you choose to continue your mathematical studies at university. The day will include inspirational talks and engaging problem-solving workshops, as well as an opportunity to talk to current university mathematics students.

Important information: please read before booking

This event is aimed at Y12 girls studying A-level Mathematics, especially those who are considering studying a mathematically-related subject at university. Attendees must be taking A-level (or equivalent) Mathematics: in schools that offer Further Maths A-level, we would expect these students to be Further Mathematicians, but students from schools which do not currently teach Further Mathematics are also warmly welcomed.

Thanks to funding from the University of Cambridge Widening Participation Project Fund, we have some travel bursaries available for students attending state maintained schools/academies. To apply for a travel bursary, please complete the relevant section of the online booking form.

All places must be pre-booked.

If you have any questions, please contact us: mmp@maths.cam.ac.uk

This registration form is for individual students only.

  • Lunch will be provided

  • Cancellation policy: thanks to generous philanthropic and in-kind support we are able to offer free places to all students. However, places are limited, and because of the highly interactive nature of the day, late changes to numbers cause significant disruption to the event. If bookings are cancelled after 5pm on Friday 20th March, or students do not attend on the day, we will therefore charge at our discretion a cancellation fee of £20 per cancelled student place.

  • The talks and workshops may be filmed or photographed. Photographs and films may be published, transmitted or broadcast in official University of Cambridge publications and in University publicity materials, including University and University-affiliated websites and may be circulated to the press and other broadcast media and Internet websites for publication, transmission or broadcast. If this is problematic please contact us in advance.
